1. Overview

MachineGuardian (“the Service”), operated by NorthStar Industries (“we,” “us”), provides industrial condition-monitoring and predictive-maintenance analytics to its business customers. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: name, work email address, organization, role, and mobile phone number (when you or your administrator enable SMS alerts).
  • Equipment telemetry: vibration, temperature, pressure, and other sensor data from your monitored equipment, plus equipment metadata.
  • Usage data: log records of how you interact with the Service.

3. How we use your information

  • To operate the Service — analyze telemetry, present dashboards and reports, and generate maintenance recommendations.
  • To send you service alerts via SMS when monitored equipment crosses a configured condition threshold, if you have enabled SMS notifications.
  • To improve the Service’s analytics models using aggregated, de-identified data (see our Terms of Service for details and your opt-out right).

4. SMS / text-message program

If you opt in to SMS alerts, we use your mobile phone number solely to deliver equipment-condition notifications related to your account. By enabling SMS alerts (or having your organization’s administrator enable them on your behalf), you consent to receive these automated text messages.

  • Message frequency varies and depends on how many of your monitored assets cross alert thresholds.
  • Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
  • Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe from SMS alerts at any time. Reply HELP for assistance.
  • You may also disable SMS alerts at any time in your MachineGuardian profile settings.

We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in data with any third parties for their own marketing purposes. Mobile information is used only to operate the SMS-alert feature of the Service and is shared only with the messaging providers (such as Twilio) strictly necessary to deliver the messages you have requested.

5. How we share information

We share information only:

  • With service providers (cloud hosting, SMS delivery, error monitoring) under contract, solely to operate the Service on our behalf.
  • When required by law or to protect our legal rights.
  • In connection with a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy.

We never sell personal information, and we never share mobile opt-in / SMS consent data with third parties for marketing.

6. Data retention & security

We retain account and telemetry data for the duration of your subscription plus a reasonable period thereafter, in line with your subscription tier’s retention settings. We apply commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information.

7. Your choices

  • Opt out of SMS alerts any time via STOP or your profile settings.
  • Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
